Is it legal to have two insurance policies on one car?

I have a situation where the car loan for my son's car requires the car to be insured and requires us to give them the insurance information. My son moved out of state for college, and had to change insurance companies; he changed in October, I sent the insurance information to the car loan company (via online per their instructions, and received a reply saying they received the information). Then received a letter in December that they had not received updated insurance information. So I called them, told them it was insured, that i had filled out the info online; I got a fax # for the insurance company to send the info again; i got a letter in January that the loan company still had not received the info. I had my son go to his agent (after he and his father had called the insurance agent 3 times with no action), and stay on the line until they called the loan company with the updated insurance info. In the interim, the loan company got insurance for the vehicle and is charging us $$ for insurance on the car because we he had gotten a $100 deductible instead of $1000 deductible required by the loan company. This means that the car would have been insured by two companies at the same time if they do not reimburse us for these charges now that they have proof that the car has been insured all this time. We have changed the deductible to $1000 now. Is it legal for them to now require us to pay them for car insurance that they purchased (making the car insured by two companies)? I've read that it is illegal and I've read that it is legal. Which is true?

California speedin and no proof of insurance ticket?

It was dark and raining. I just came off the bay bridge in SF and am positive I was driving below 40 on the bridge and between 40-60 when I got off the bridge. The cop was on 80E past fremont exit. He said I was at 67 in a 50 zone and also did not give me enough time to look for my proof of insurance. Car wreck and insurance?

Today I was in car wreck. I was in a parking lot going straight and the other driver turned left in to my car. She has dented the whole left side of my car. I called the police but because it was in a parking lot they could not do much. An officer showed up because she refused to give me her proof insurance. The officer said she was clearly at fault but could not cite her because of the private property thing. My question is does anyone know or have any idea how this will play out with her insurance? My car has a lot of damage and i'm in a lot of pain. I won't be able to go to the doctor/hospital until tomorrow because I won't have the money for a co-pay until then. The officer was very nice, he sided with me put all the blame on her, she claimed it was an accident when she clearly just didn't stop before making a left into my car, I thought she was going to stop and I tried to avoid her but she was going to fast. Car Insurance, ammended details of profession lead to increased premium?

My car insurance company rang me two weeks ago asking to update my details. I was previously registered as a student and unemployed but changed this to working part time as an admin assistant. A week ago I received my new certificate of insurance but today they rang me to say that my premium had increased by 150! I find this difficult to understand how changing my profession from student to admin could whack up my premium by this much. At the same time they offered me a new deal from another insurer , which they claimed would be cheaper, but I refused over the telephone as I felt too confused at the time. Now they told me that they will be sending me the bill to pay off the new increased premium. Can anyone help me confirm whether insurance companies can do this? I am not driving my car any more than I previously had and I cannot see as how my new job increases the risk of me having an accident!! Thanks

Leaving saga car insurance due to high renewal quote so would like to know another over 50's car insurer..?

I have just received his renewal quote which is around 90 a month more than last year and Saga claimed they do a price match guarantee. My circumstances are still they same as they was last year.
